Web-Seminar:
ARE YOU READY TO BALANCE SUPPLY AND DEMAND?
On January 18th, John Galt with Forrester Research, Syngenta Corp. and Supply and Demand Chain Executive Magazine hosted the first in a series of web seminars, The Building Blocks of Sales and Operations Planning to an audience of over 300 people. The informative seminar addressed how to determine if a business is ready for S&OP, and other questions about leveraging existing technology and practices. Noha Tohamy, Principal Analyst, Forrester Research, described the results of her research into trends in demand management, specifically focused on demand visibility, collaboration, and forecasting. Richard Herrin, Manager, NAFTA Planning & Forecasting, Syngenta Crop Protection, outlined how Syngenta implemented this process and the return on investment they have experienced from inventory reduction and reducing top-line and product mix error. Kai Trepte of John Galt Solutions illustrated how to build the framework for an S&OP process, and how it relates to managing a product family through determining forecast-ability and appropriate management levers.

Our next Web Seminar will be March 15th and will continue to explore establishing a framework for Sales and Operations Planning.

Kai Trepte addresses Forecasting and Planning issues at the APICS Rock Valley Chapter Professional Dinner Meeting.
(Rockford, Il) Kai Trepte co-founder of John Galt Solutions spent an evening with the Rock Valley Chapter of APICS, on January 11th, at their professional dinner meeting. The attendees represented a cross-section of the manufacturing corridor centered in Rockford, IL. Kai began the presentation with showing how better demand forecasting can improve inventory positions, but quickly took the group to the next level, by discussing how to determine if increased forecast accuracy will provide the largest improvement in supply chain practices, or should a company look to other business levers for larger returns. By examining John Galt’s methodology of using a quadrant approach to forecast-ability Kai illustrated how to analyze product family issues to extract the best performance. The topic proved to be of much interest to the attendees and sparked a lot of discussion, and questions for Kai. Afterwards, Kai remarked “It is always great to participate with APICS at the chapter level, as the attendees to the different events are always so enthusiastic about learning how to improve their company’s supply chain performance.”

John Galt Solutions has enjoyed a long association with APICS on the national, regional, and chapter level. Kai Trepte has been a featured speaker at the International conference, as well as the Chicago chapter of APICS, and is a scheduled presenter for Congress for Progress 30, in Philadelphia this year.
