The square root of the Coefficient of Determination (R2) is the Correlation Coefficient (R ). The Correlation Coefficient statistic is used to determine the relationship between two variables. The value of the coefficient can range from ö1.00 to +1.00. The arithmetic sign associated with the Correlation Coefficient indicates the direction of the relationship between the dependent variable and the independent variable (positive = direct, negative = inverse). A Correlation Coefficient of 0 indicates no relationship. The absolute value of the coefficient indicates the extent of the relationship.
