On September 16, 1946, the first Montgomery College, located in Montgomery
County, Maryland, classes were held in the evenings at a local high
school with a student body of 186 men and women. Over the past half-century
the College has grown to a multi-campus institution with more than
20,000 credit students and 15,000 Continuing Education students. Today,
more than 100 degree and certificate programs prepare students to
earn an associate's degree, transfer to a four-year college or university,
enter the job market, upgrade career skills, complete an apprenticeship,
or enhance life through enrichment experience.
