Oakland University located in Rochester, MI has continued to grow
since its beginning. When it first opened in 1959, only 570 students
were enrolled. As a state-supported institution of higher education,
Oakland University has a three-fold mission. It offers instructional
programs of high quality that lead to degrees at the baccalaureate,
master's and doctoral levels as well as programs in continuing education;
it advances knowledge and promotes the arts through research, scholarship
and creative activity; and it renders significant public service.
In all its activities, the university strives to exemplify educational
leadership.
The college is home to 15 departments and 60 majors. The college offers
instruction leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor
of Science, Master of Arts, Master of Music, Master of Science and
Doctor of Philosophy degrees. In conjunction with the School of Education
and Human Services, it offers instruction leading to secondary teaching
certification in biology, chemistry, English, history, mathematics,
French, German, Spanish, music and physics.
School of Business Administration
The School of Business Administration, within Oakland University in
Rochester, MI, is dedicated to advancing knowledge and enhancing each
student’s ability to manage in a global business environment. With
four departments in Accounting/Finance, Economics, Decision and Information
Sciences and Management/Marketing, students graduate with a solid
foundation and knowledge in the effective application and management
of technology, enabling them to adjust readily to an ever-changing
business environment.
