As the Civil War was coming to an end in October 1, 1865, Trenton,
New Jersey was becoming an important business and industrial center
as well as the state capital. These factors caught the attention of
Henry B. Bryant and Henry D. Stratton who operated a chain of business
schools across the country. On October 1, 1865, The Trenton Business
College, located in Temperance Hall at the corner of South Broad and
Front Streets, was established. Andrew Jackson Rider became its first
president.
Rider University has four academic colleges – the College of Business
Administration; the College of Liberal Arts, Education, and Sciences;
the College of Continuing Studies; and Westminster Choir College.
Students can choose from more than 60 undergraduate majors in business
administration, education, liberal arts, music and science and graduate
programs in 17 specialties. Rider University is accredited by the
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. It is also on the
approved list of the American Association of University Women and
of the American Chemical Society.
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
The College of Business Administration (CBA) is located on Rider's
Lawrenceville, New Jersey campus and offers diversified programs of
studies that fulfill the goals of students with a clear idea of what
career they want to pursue presenting major options to the students
who are not quite sure what path they want to take. The newest program,
the EMBA, utilizes on-the-job experience to explore new theories on
management in the classroom. The MAcc program develops individuals
for careers in the rapidly changing field of accounting, while, the
MBA program prepares students for professional advancement as managers
and leaders of organizations.
